If you ever wanted to see a bear use a smartphone, now’s your chance! Baidu’s Global Business Unit (Baidu GBU) has just made a new video of its international app family, with the company mascot DU Bear playing the role of host.
Baidu’s international products are enjoyed by more than 2 billion users in over 200 countries and regions worldwide. The concept behind the new video is to unite Baidu’s international apps, and at the same time introduce a new tagline for Baidu fans all over the world: “Power Up Your Phone”.

Many of Baidu’s apps are featured in the video, including earlier products DU Battery Saver, DU Speed Booster, ES File Explorer and Photo Wonder, as well as newer additions like Facemoji Keyboard, DU Caller and DU Recorder. The shared theme between all of these apps is that they empower people to be more productive and have more fun with friends. In other words, they help people “Power Up”!
Taken together, Baidu’s apps tell a story of growth and evolution, starting with utilities and moving toward content-driven apps that integrate AI technologies like voice and image recognition.
Both Facemoji Keyboard and Simeji have recently added speech recognition for speech-to-text dictation in Japanese and English, and HAHAmoji has added facial recognition. All three of these AI-enabled apps have been covered by Western and Japanese media, and HAHAmoji has even had the distinction of being featured twice on TV in Japan!
In addition, Baidu’s mobile advertising platform DU Ad Platform leverages machine learning for its ad monetization technology, which is called Peak Selection Algorithm. This proprietary tech ensures that app developers automatically get the highest possible revenue for their ad campaigns.
